I am pleased to welcome you to the 2011-12 season of Grimsby Concert Society. Last year, we had a marvellous season with more and more of you supporting the concerts on offer.
Grimsby Concert Society was formed in 1959 as “Wintringham Society of Arts” with our President, Dorothy Dean, being a co-founder. Its purpose remains to promote a series of classical concerts of the highest quality, using professional musicians, between October and April.
The Society is flourishing, has a very loyal membership and continues to welcome new members each season. Our concerts are also open to non-members by ticket and these are available for any of the seven concerts, either from the Caxton’s Booking Office at Grimsby Central Library (Tel. 346251) or at the door on the evening of the concert.
There is a good social aspect to the Society where like-minded music lovers can meet and socialise. This ethos is supported by the additional benefits of membership including trips to orchestral concerts out of town. The season would not be complete without our Christmas Soirée which has proved to be very popular with our member and their guests. Come along and enjoy an evening of entertainment with a difference in a cabaret style environment with buffet and wine.
I, together with each of our committee members, would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone who cares to join us as a visitor for the first time or as a regular attendee. We look forward to welcoming everyone to share the fine music and friendly atmosphere in this our 52nd season.
