James Gillett, & Friends Thursday 8th January 2026, 7:30 pm A Lyrical Journey through Time
Originally from Grimsby, James Gillett is a pianist and conductor based in Manchester where he is also an opera and vocal coach with Roy`al Northern College of Music. James has established a strong foundation in both performance and music education; he has cultivated a deep passion for music in the theatre, developing into conducting and playing operatic repertoire. The superb Mezzo-Soprano Victoria Simmonds began her career as a Young Artist and then Company Principal at English National Opera. She has since had many leading opera roles and has sung for major festivals around the world; her CV includes many opera premieres. Victoria regularly appears in recital and concert throughout the UK and Europe. Henry Waddington also studied at the RNCM and he made his operatic debut there as Bottom in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Henry joined Glyndebourne Touring Opera in 1992 and he has sung regularly with all the major UK opera companies and many European companies. A nominee for Best Male Singer in the 2016 International Opera Awards, Henry is in great demand. Kelsey Thomas - Early career singer and award winning Lyrical Soprano Kelsey Thomas is studying for a Masters at the Royal Northern College of Music under Yvonne Howard. Having already appeared in a number of operas, Kelsey is praised for her "beautiful storytelling", "outstanding onstage energy" and "excellent supple and elastic tone".
