In this special end of season concert we are proud to present Robin Rubenstein and Grimsby based pianist Victoria Hartung. Robin, originally from Los Angeles, and Victoria first met in the 1970’s as recent graduates of the Royal College of Music in London. They went on to form their successful piano duo, making their debut appearance in the Purcell Room on London’s South Bank, and broadcasting several recitals on BBC Radio 3, before Victoria moved to the USA in 1983. Fortunately, in recent years they have rekindled the partnership and have enjoyed revisiting the repertoire. They will be playing a programme of fantasy and delight, including a set of variations by Brahms on Schumann’s ‘last musical thought’ he said was dictated to him by angels.
Programme Mozart: Sonata in C Major Schubert: Fantasie Debussy: Six Épigraphs Antiques Brahms: Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann Ravel: Mother Goose Suite
